Michael’s Communications and Operations Experience
People participate when they feel a connection…that belief, honed across a nearly 30-year communications career, underpins all of Michael’s professional work (and is the thesis of his book). No matter your type of organization, it is imperative to understand the audience being engaged, what you want all parties to get from the interaction, and the necessary approach and tools to move stakeholders. We help you define, message and engage for optimum impact.
Michael also has extensive crisis communications and proactive brand-building experience, epitomized by previously serving as a media spokesperson, communications strategist, charitable giving agent, and regional public affairs lead for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.
Civic engagement has always played an important role in Michael's life, from studying the Civil Rights Movement and voting during college and graduate school, to volunteering for numerous nonprofits and community groups. This passion and work led Mills to author the 2009 book, “Battling Democracy’s Decline.” And it culminated with being elected to Canandaigua City Council in 2023 (earning 65 percent of the vote).
